PPSC: changing test syllabus

THE current test syllabus of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) is based on general knowledge and English (idioms, prepositions and vocabulary). This means candidates will cram more and more.

Such a test promotes a culture of cramming in Punjab, and this has been there since our school days.

Furthermore, such a test pattern judges only one function of the mind, i.e. memory, while other functions of the mind which are calculation, comprehension and analysis are ignored.

These other functions of the mind can be explored by including mathematics, analytical reasoning, intelligence quotient and comprehension paragraphs in the test syllabus. I hope that the PPSC would pay heed to the cause and thus end the culture of cramming. I request the PPSC to change its current test syllabus for all types of tests.
