Pakistan still reeling in the elections and its aftermath

Re-polling ended in 43 polling stations of Karachi’s NA-250 constituency after a low voter turnout was witnessed amidst tight security on Sunday, May 19. While in Hyderabad, 'unknown persons' torched three vehicles, attacked the residences of two PTI leaders, attacked a Lahore-bound train, and injured its driver, besides opening indiscriminate firing in various localities of the city and its adjoining areas. Supporters of Altaf Hussain staged a sit-in in Karachi's Aisha Manzil area whereas the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) took out a rally in Hyderabad city against remarks made by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan against MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Later this evening (May 19) the MQM announced that they would hold protests in Pakistan and in other countries against statements made by Imran Khan. – Text by Dawn.com, photos/captions by Agencies
