HYDERABAD: LUMHS reforms planned

HYDERABAD, May 20: The vice chancellor, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Prof Jan Mohammad A. Memon has said that the university is working to finalize a three-year reforms agenda to ensure quality teaching and research, and improve the diagnostic and health delivery system at the Liaquat University Hospital.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said the agenda is to be formally approved by the academic council and involves a budget estimate of Rs10 million.

He said the university is expected to generate the funds from its own resources for the reforms.

He said under the programme, the university plans to check brain drain, induct a high quality faculty, revise the curricula and examination system in concurrence with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council regulations, introduce emerging disciplines, develop linkages at the national and international level, incorporate pharmaceutical industries towards research, and upgrade infrastructure to bring it at par with modern universities.
