TOBA TEK SINGH, May 19: On the orders of the DPO, Pirmahal SHO Malik Muhammad Aslam, ASI Shaukat Ali and constable Abdul Khaliq were arrested on Monday for taking bribe from a citizen.
Muhammad Inayat, a saw machine owner of Ghousia Chowk, Pirmahal, informed the DPO that the SHO, the ASI and the constable had taken bribe from him after levelling against him the fake rape charge.
Sources said the DPO himself rushed to Pirmahal, took into custody all three policemen and put them behind the bars.
A case has also been registered against the accused policemen.
WHEAT TARGET: The stabilization of wheat price in the open market is the outcome of sound procurement policy and the government is committed to purchase wheat at its procurement centres till the achievement of its target.
This was stated by Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal in a press conference at Kamalia on Sunday night.
He said out of 80,000 tons of wheat purchase target in the Toba Tek Singh district, the government had so far purchased 53,119 tons of wheat through its six purchase centres.
Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stone of the Kamalia market committee building besides inaugurating the drainage scheme recently completed at Mauza Qadir Bakhsh.
MPA Liaquat Ali Shaukat, district Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, Faisalabad Food deputy director Rana Saeed Ahmad and district food controller were also present on the occasion.
The minister also inspected the Rajana wheat procurement centre.
RELEASED: Judicial magistrate Rai Wajid Ali on Monday released on bail Muhammad Siddique, brother of PML-Q secretary-general Chaudhry Saleem Ghazi.
The magistrate also bailed out currency changer Muhammad Abbas, a constable and some three dozen people who were arrested for selling prize bond number chits a few days ago.
For this purpose, DPO Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar had formed special police teams for conducting raids in all towns of the district.
STRIKE: The Punjab Bar Council has directed all bar associations in the province to observe an hour strike on May 22 in protest against the police failure to arrest the Toba tehsil Nazim.
The Toba police had registered a case against Toba tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq on the charge of threatening DBA secretary-general Chaudhry Tanveer Hussain of dire consequences. DBA president Chaudhry Muhammad Anwaar warned here on Monday that if the issue was not resolved till May 22 the directive of the PBC would be implemented.
