NAWABSHAH, May 19: A man, his wife and a child continued hunger strike on Sunday outside the local press club against the burning of their abode.

Nawab Solangi, a resident of Sumera Colony, had also tried to immolate himself on Friday but was saved by the public.

He told this correspondent that he resided in a hut at a piece of government land.

He said that Nazim UC-1, Khudadad Durrani, councillor Babu Chandio and builder Naeem Haqqani asked him to vacate the land or pay them Rs20,000.

Mr Solangi said that last week, when he was at work, they sent some men who set ablaze his house.

He said that he lodged a complaint with the A-section police who arrested the culprits but released them later.

Two police constables have been deputed at the hunger strike camp as Mr Solangi might kill himself.

The ASP, Saddar, and the SHO A-section also visited him at the hunger strike camp. Talking to them, Mr Solangi insisted on the arrest of the accused.
