KARACHI, May 19: The Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Rauf Siddiqi, has expressed concern over alleged use of drugs in educational institutions and said that this menace should be strictly checked.
He said that if the institutions which were expected to produce future leaders become weak, then who would hold the reigns of the country.
He was speaking as chief guest at the annual prize distribution ceremony at the Government Boys Secondary School, 5-B, North Karachi, on Monday.
He said the people should support the government in the war against narcotics by identifying the drug sellers.
The minister pointed out that students passing out from public schools had reached higher positions, which was made possible because of the hard work of the teachers and students themselves.
He said that the nation needed youth having positive thinking and this would be possible only when the students would concentrate only on their academic activities.
On the occasion, the minister, on behalf of the Sindh governor, announced a grant of Rs 50,000 for the school, besides two water coolers and 12 fans.—APP
