TAXILA, April 25: Cattle sheds in residential areas in Taxila Cantonment area are causing problems to the citizens.

A number of commercial buffalo and goat sheds in different areas especially along with railway track have become constant source of nuisance for the residents.

“Cattle sheds have kept cropping up in these residential areas for the last several years, but the authorities concerned are yet to address the issue,” said Muzamil Shah, a resident of Bilal Colony.

He said the situation should have been controlled, but instead the problem was aggravating with every passing day.

Memona Bibi, another resident of the area said there were a number of goats and buffalo sheds in Cantonment area especially along with railway track where animals have been kept.

“At times it also becomes impossible to walk along the street as herds of buffalos create hindrance,” she said.

“Some people have occupied railway land or vacant places in front of their houses they own without caring health hazards, hygiene problem, cleanliness and related problems the goats and buffalos can create for the residents,” said Safia Bibi, a resident of Muslim Colony.

He said the smell of cattle dung, lying openly vitiated entire atmosphere of the area.

“The open areas in front of these sheds have become a breeding place for mosquitoes and flies especially when the dengue season has already set in,” she added.

“We fail to understand as how the administration has ignored these sheds in residential areas,” asked another resident.

He claimed that the owners of these sheds were playing havoc with the lives of the residents.

Many other residents of these areas have also demanded that the railways and cantonment board should take stock of the situation and make immediate arrangements to shift the sheds out of the residential limits.
