House damaged in Kohat grenade attack

KOHAT, April 25: The roof of a house was damaged in a grenade attack in Merozai area here on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The owner of the house, Iftikhar Ahmed, told the officials of Riaz Khan Shaheed police station that they were sleeping when at around 1:30am they heard a bang of huge blast.

He said that the blast was followed by indiscriminate firing, but they remained inside the house for their safety. He said that he had no enmity with anyone.

The police launched investigations after registering the case against unknown criminals.

FEF COLLEGE: Former lawmakers and social circles have criticised the plan to shift Frontier Education Foundation (FEF) Girls Degree College from Kohat and vowed to resist the move.

Former provincial minister Qalb-e-Hassan, in a statement here, demanded of the government to immediately reinstate the female staff removed from the college otherwise they would go to the court to seek justice.

He said that there was already shortage of educational institutions for women in the district. He said that the college was brought to Kohat with great efforts by former governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah.

Mr Hassan said that the FEF Degree College and academy were good institutions and the girls studying there were getting good positions in the board and university examinations.

Kohat Awami Tehrik, traders and former lawmakers Shaukat Habib and Dilwar Shah also criticised the move and said that the government should not snatch the right of education from the women.
