KARACHI, April 21: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) became the new champions when they beat Institute of Business Management (IoBM) by 45-30 points in the final of 12th AKU Inter-university boys’ basketball tournament at the AKU gymnasium on Saturday evening.

The winners, who led 21-19 at half time, enjoyed clear edge over their opponents in the last two quarters to win the final in convincing fashion.

The trio of Syed Mubashiruddin, Faisal Javed and Faraz Ali shone with their scoring skills by guiding the institution to maiden title triumph.

Mubashir turned out to be the most outstanding player with a tally of 16 points. Faisal and Faraz contributed 11 and nine points respectively for winners.

Ali Raza and Saad Shamsi scored 10 points apiece for losers.

Faraz Ali, captain of the IBA, received the winning trophy from Muneer Amanullah, Associate Professor and Consultant Paediatrics Cardiac Surgery, AKU, who graced the occasion.

Saad Shamsi, captain of the IoBM, was awarded the runners-up trophy.

The Most Valuable Player of the tournament trophy went to Syed Mubashiruddin, while Ali Raza, Faisal Javed, and Ahed Javeri were awarded consolation prizes.Secretary of the Sindh Basketball Association former international Abdul Nasir, FIBA referee Yaqoob Qadry and Manager, AKU Spots Centre, Riaz Akbar Contractor, were also present.
