SWABI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the United States is violating Pakistan’s sovereignty through drone attacks, which should be stopped forthwith.

He was talking to media persons in Zarobai area at the residence of his party leader Maulana Fazal Ali here on Tuesday.

Answering a question, he said that continued drone attacks by the American secret agency in Pakistan’stribal region were a big challenge to the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“The government should tackle this issue with a great diplomatic skill. These (drone attacks) should be stopped immediately because they violate Pakistan’s sovereignty,” he said.

The JUI-F chief said that Washington approach towards South Asia and volatile Middle East fomented terrorism in these areas. He said that the US had targeted the Muslim countries across the world, especially in the Middle East.

In reply to a question, he said that there was a need for complete unity to face the external and internal challenges.

He said that the government should devise a policy to deal with the issue of terrorism, which had already weakened Pakistan’s economy and caused grave security concerns among people.

About the Egypt’s situation, Mr Rehman said that the removal of an elected government was against the norms of democracy. He said that it was a big conspiracy hatched against the Egyptian brotherhood government.
