ISLAMABAD, July 8: The government appears to have postponed for the time being the All Parties Conference (APC) it had earlier scheduled for July 12 to work out a national strategy against militancy.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that July 12 was not the final date for the APC.

According to a handout, he said: “So far the date of holding the consultative conference of the leaders of national political parties has not been finalised. The date of July 12 which is constantly being quoted by the media is actually a proposed date while the final date for the meeting will be decided after due deliberation and consensus, keeping in view the availability of the entire political leadership of Pakistan.”

Chaudhry Nisar is busy holding consultations about leaders to be invited. After the consultations he will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to decide the schedule of the conference.
