ISLAMABAD, May 17: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a project to set up a Centralized Instrumentation Laboratory at University of the Punjab, Lahore.
According to an official statement, the Rs35 million project will be completed in a period of 24 months.
The project is aimed at strengthening the existing scientific laboratory facilities to enable the University to undertake high- class research and improve its existing research capabilities.
Under the project, advanced laboratory facilities will be provided to the faculty members and students of various departments, including Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, and Physics.
The project will help sharpen the scientific capabilities of the students, teachers and researchers for undertaking research on areas of national importance and to produce quality manpower in the field of science and technology at local level.
The Centralized Instrumentation Laboratory will receive advanced equipment for training and research purposes and after the availability of sophisticated equipment, the quality of teaching and research will improve significantly, the statement said.
