ISLAMABAD, Dec 10: Pakistan’s second satellite, Badar-II, was successfully injected into the earth orbit at 10:30pm (PST) on Monday from Russian Cosmodrome at Baikonur, Kazakhstan.

The satellite was launched with main Russian meteorological satellite, Meteor3-M on board Zenith-II launch vehicle, in collaboration with the Russian aviation and space agency.

It is orbiting the earth in a near circular sun- Synchronous orbit, according to official sources here.

The satellite has been designed and fabricated by Suparco engineers.

The successful launch of Badar-II has once again demonstrated Pakistani engineers’ capability in the field of space technology, the sources said, adding, that the satellite is in its early operation and system checkout phase.

According to ISPR, a high-level delegation of Pakistan headed by Major-General Raza Hussain, chairman, Suparco, was in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, to witness the launch of Badar-II.—APP
