MINGORA, May 11: The Nazim of Alpuri tehsil, Shangla district, Mohib Pacha, has asked the members of the National and provincial assemblies to avoid interference in the affairs of local government and concentrate on legislation.

He also demanded of the government to announce a development package for Shangla, as it was the most backward district of the province.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, the tehsil Nazim said that the local government system was functioning successfully and development schemes worth millions of rupees had been initiated in different areas.

He said uplift schemes worth Rs10 million had been started alone in the Alpurai tehsil, but the area was backward and needed more funds.

He asserted that health and education facilities were next to nil, but the successive governments did not fulfil their duties to set up educational institutions and hospitals in the district.

The Nazim said that in case of illness the patients were rushed to hospitals in Swat or Peshawar, but due to the poor communication system the patients could hardly survive.

He said that owing to the negligence of the successive governments the situation had gone from bad to worse in the district.

He also asked the leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) to give full attention towards the solution of people’s problems.
