84 Pakistanis deported from the UK

RAWALPINDI, May 30: As many as 84 Pakistani deportees, including seven women who were in the UK on student visas, overstayed or breached visa conditions. They arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on a chartered flight on Thursday, the immigration authorities said.

According to federal investigation agency’s immigration official, a special flight with 85 Pakistani illegal immigrants on board arrived at BBI at around 11.30 a.m. from London. Among the deportees were 78 male and seven female, however, one of the female was sent back to UK on the same flight.

The UK immigration authorities said a 15-member security squad escorted the Pakistani deportees; however, none of them was handcuffed as they had not committed any crime in the UK.

The authorities said all of the deportees belonged to Peshawar, Swabi, Islamabad, Lahore, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Swat, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Kashmir, Toba Tek Singh and Vihari were allowed to go home after a brief questioning.—Mohammad Asghar
