SAHIWAL, May 10: Dera Rahim police claimed on Saturday to have arrested one of the killers of four family members, residents of Chak 141/9-L, and recovered a kidnapped girl.
Accused Muhammad Shafiq, along with his brother Allah Rakha and nephew Nadeem, had shot dead his divorced wife Shahani, daughter Samra, 2, father-in-law Abbas Asghar and mother-in-law Kulsoom on the night of May 3. He also kidnapped his two sisters-in-law Naila and Rashida Guddi.
Dera Rahim police recovered Rashida, who disclosed that Shafiq had kidnapped her, along with her sister, and took them to Karachi. She said the accused contracted marriage with her and married Naila to his nephew. On Friday night, she said she was intoxicated and thrown in a jungle from where she came with her brother Asif.
The police claimed that they had arrested Allah Rakha. A team has been sent to Karachi to arrest Nadeem and Shafiq.
RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT: Special judge of an anti-corruption establishment on Saturday awarded three-year rigorous imprisonment and Rs5,000 fine to a patwari, who was caught accepting illegal gratification.
In case of non-payment of fine, the convict would undergo another year’s hard jail.
The establishment had nabbed Muhammad Ashraf accepting Rs1,000 as illegal gratification. The charges had been established.
PLUNDERING: Robbers on Saturday plundered cash and valuables and drove away with a councillor’s motorbike in various parts of the district.
