LAHORE, May 23: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan will address party’s major protest demonstration against “worst-ever rigging” through video link in Islamabad on Friday (today).

This was stated by PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry while chairing a meeting with regard to mass protest in Islamabad at party’s Punjab secretariat on Thursday. Party’s Punjab General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid was also present on the occasion.

Mr Chaudhry said staging peaceful protest demonstration was a political, democratic and constitutional right of the party. He said the PTI would act as an effective and responsible opposition within and outside assemblies as well as continue its protest campaign and bring corrupt rulers to book. He said those elected using power and influence had been exposed.

Mr Chaudhry also finalised that the PTI caravan would move from Lahore on Friday (today) at 11am and would be joined by small caravans from different cities on GT Road.

ALEEM: PTI Lahore President Abdul Aleem Khan has said that PPP and PML-N are hand in glove for attaining power though the latter was raising slogans “Go Zardari Go” and trying to befool the masses.

Those, who were levelling allegation against Imran Khan with regard to support to President Zardari should now see the reality and answer the masses. He said time had proved that Imran Khan gave true picture to the masses in the election campaign and all other political parties tried only to stop PTI. He said rigging was a part of that campaign on which people were now reacting and would fully demonstrate in Islamabad. Chairing a meeting to review the participation of PTI workers in protest against Election Commission in Islamabad from Lahore, Aleem Khan called upon the party workers to remain peaceful and use their democratic right in a legal manner.

Qureshi: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said the party will continue its peaceful protest if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not pay heed to the demand of vote recount in 25 constituencies.

Talking to media persons after enquiring after PTI chief Imran Khan at his residence here on Thursday, Qureshi said if the new government did not address the prevailing crises, the party would play the role of an effective opposition.

He said people were not satisfied with the results of general elections and it was constitutional and democratic right of the party to protest and demand vote recount, where there were ‘doubts’.

Mr Qureshi welcomed the meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and added it would be good for democracy in the country.
