LAHORE, May 23: Public and private schools will remain closed for summer vacation from June 1 to Aug 15, as already notified in the annual academic calendar.

The Punjab School Education Department has already notified the annual academic calendar that includes summer vacation from June 1 to Aug 15.

Department’s deputy secretary Qaiser Rasheed said the schools going for summer break from June 7 would be violating the school department’s academic calendar.

Punjab School Education Department Secretary Aslam Kamboh has announced that private and government schools will remain open for four to five days during the summer vacation from June 23 in 11 districts for vaccination of every student from class I to V.

Mr Kamboh made this announcement at a function regarding census of private schools. He said that holding of summer camps in schools before Ramazan would be permitted. Describing school census as an important step, he said there would be uniform standards for public and private schools in the future. He said budget of schools would be allocated in accordance with the number of students.

Fayyaz Khan of GID informed that according to census of private schools, 7.45 million students were studying at 44,000 private schools, out of whom boy and girl students ratio stand at 54 per cent (4 million) and 46 per cent (3.45 million). He also said that there were 380,000 teachers in private schools.

Acknowledging that school census had ensured availability of complete data, Rana Arshad thanked GID for completing census of private schools.

Private Schools Management Association president Adeeb Jawdani and Nighat were also present.
