LANDI KOTAL, May 22: Fifteen more containers loaded with military hardware of Nato forces crossed into Pakistan via Torkham border the other day as part of the Nato withdrawal programme from Afghanistan.

Officials at Torkham border said that the vehicles were allowed to proceed to Karachi after necessary clearance by the custom authorities. They said that so far around 160 Nato vehicles loaded with unspecified goods had crossed into Pakistan and sent back to their respective countries from Karachi port.

PTI PROTEST: The Khyber Agency chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf organised a demonstration at Landi Kotal Club the other day to protest against the killing of PTI leader Zuhra Shahid in Karachi.

Holding party flags and placards, the PTI activists chanted slogans against Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and demanded arrest of the killers of Zuhra Shahid.

The protesters also demanded of the government of Pakistan to arrest the MQM chief through the Interpol and try him for his alleged involvement in violence and targeted killings in Karachi. “If MQM chief Altaf Hussain has any moral courage, he should come to Pakistan and face cases pending against him,” said the protesters.

PEOPLE WARNED: The political administration has warned general public to avoid any violation of law in the vicinity of Landi Kotal bazaar.

Talking to local journalists, assistant political agent Azmat Wazir said that the administration would soon issue a notification to this effect in order to apprise general public to refrain from committing any crime on the main roads manned by the Khasadar and Levies personnel and at the Landi Kotal bazaar.

He said that the administration wanted to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in Landi Kotal tehsil at all costs.
