QUETTA, May 21: Mir Sadiq Ali Umrani, president of the PPP’s Balochistan chapter, resigned from the office on Tuesday.
He told reporters that he had sent his resignation to the party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The PPP’s senior vice-chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani and some other office-bearers have already resigned after its electoral defeat in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Mr Umrani ascribed his resignation to the PPP’s defeat in his province and “inadequate efforts by Islamabad to resolve the issue of Balochistan”.
“The elections were free but not fair,” he said.—Staff Correspondent
