BANNU/WANA, May 20: The Election Commission of Pakistan has finalised arrangements for holding re-polling in 11 stations of two provincial assembly constituencies in Bannu district and a National Assembly constituency in tribal areas on Tuesday (May 21).
According to ECP notifications, re-polling will be held on four polling stations of PK-71, Bannu-II, and three polling stations of PK-72, Bannu-III.
The ECP had withheld the results of the two provincial assembly constituencies over complaints of firing and suspension of polling in seven stations and ordered re-polling there.
According to the regional election officer, Ahmad Nawaz Khan, at least 8,347 voters, both male and female, would cast their votes at four polling stations of PK-71. The stations include Kamar Kala high school, Gaddi Tapp, Mohammad Noor Patolkhel and Morghali.
The three polling stations of PK-72 include Nawab Narmikhel girls school, Gul Zali Bakakhel and Kotka Allah Dad. A total of 4,392 men and women would cast their votes.
The REO said that staff and election material had already been sent to the polling stations. He said that adequate security measures had also been taken to ensure peaceful polling on the seven polling stations of the two constituencies.
The contesting candidates on PK-71 include Awami National Party’s Taimur Baz, Pakistan People’s Party’s Fakhre Azam advocate and JUI-F’s Qari Gul Azeem. The potential contenders for PK-72 are JUI-F’s Syed Hamid Shah and independent candidate Malik Shah Mohammad Khan. Interestingly, after initial count Shah Mohammad was unofficially declared successful and he has also announced joining the PTI.
Meanwhile, the ECP directed to hold re-polling at Polling Stations No 32, 37, 57 and 59 of NA-41 Tribal Area-VI (South Waziristan). The decision was taken few days ago by the ECP after receiving reports from the political agent/district returning officer of South Waziristan requesting for re-poll there.
