Councillor, his friend shot dead

FAISALABAD, May 9: A general councillor and his friend were killed by three people allegedly for demanding ‘forced tax’ in D-Type Colony here on Friday evening.

Reports said councillor Ashraf Gill along with his friend, Arif Masih, visited a private hospital and demanded Rs100,000 from its owner, Mohammed Iqbal. On refusal, he opened fire which was retaliated by Iqbal and his sons, Tariq and Mazhar. As a result, Ashraf and Arif died instantly.

It is learnt that Ashraf was notorious for taking forced tax from the area shopkeepers. — Staff Correspondent
