SIALKOT, May 9: Lawyers of Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur, Shakargarh and Narowal observed an anti-LFO day on Friday on the appeal of Pakistan Bar Council.
According to a press release issued here, lawyers wore black bands on their arms, boycotted the courts, hoisted black flags on the offices of bar associations and took out processions chanting anti-LFO slogans.
The district bar association condemned the promulgation of LFO at its meeting. Bar president Munawar Hussain Warraich and secretary-general Shamshad Ahmad Bajwa in their speeches emphatically rejected the LFO. The meeting also passed anti-LFO resolutions.
BAHAWALPUR: Lawyers observed protest day against the Legal Framework Order on Friday on the call of the Punjab Bar Council.
The central council meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (Bahawalpur bench) held a meeting at Bar room which was presided over by its president Malik Nazar Muhammad.
Speaking at the meeting, Bar members severely criticized Gen Musharraf for making the LFO a part of the constitution.
They said that with the inclusion of the LFO in the constitution, the National Security Council has become a threat to parliament.
They demanded withdrawal of the LFO for the promotion of democracy.
GUJRANWALA: The District Bar Association on Friday observed an anti-LFO day and boycotted court proceedings.
According to the bar press release, lawyers hoisted black flags atop the bar room building and wore black armbands in protest against the LFO.
At a meeting presided over by bar president Ilyas Rehan, the speakers said the LFO was not part of the constitution while apex court or any other court could not make any amendment in it.
They said lawyers would not accept the LFO at any cost as it was illegal and unconstitutional. They said that a two-third majority of the members of parliament was entitled to make any amendment in the constitution.
Through a unanimous resolution, they demanded that the 1973 Constitution should be restored in its original form.
