KARACHI, May 18: A ‘super vigilance’ team of officials caught as many as 18 students cheating during the HSC Chemistry (Part II) exams being conducted by the Board of Intermediate Examination, Karachi, on Saturday.

Four invigilators supervising the exam were removed from duty as a result of failing to catch these students.

The super vigilance team comprising BIEK Chairman Anwar Ahmed Zai, DG Colleges Dr Nasir Ansar, Controller of Exams Imran Khan Chishti, BIEK Secretary Prof Arshad Qazi and Additional Commissioner Ms Rubina, during their surprise visits to the various centres caught 11 students at the Government Degree College, Saudabad and seven at Government Superior Science College, Shah Faisal Colony.

“It was unacceptable that the invigilators supervising the exams didn’t see what we saw at the two colleges so we were forced to take action against them immediately. They were quickly replaced by more responsible people,” said the BIEK chairman while speaking to Dawn.

“Their incompetence will now be reviewed according to the rules while the students’ fate lies with the unfair means committee set up for this specific purpose,” he added.
