MANSEHRA, May 14: A man was killed and four injured in the unabated celebratory firing by supporters of a winning candidate in upper parts of Hazara on Tuesday.
Local residents said Attaullah was killed after a bullet hit him during the celebratory firing at the house of PML-N MPA-elect from PK-59, Nawabzada Wali Mohammad Khan in Battagram.
Hashim Khan later registered an FIR with Battagram police and said he and his brother, Attaullah Khan, were present at the crowd when his brother received a bullet and died instantly.
Also in the day, four people suffered bullets injuries in Darband area of Mansehra when the supporters of JUI-F MPA-elect from PK-58, Torghar Zareen Gul were firing in the air to celebrate his victory.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where the condition of two of them was stated to be critical.
Darband police registered an FIR and began investigation.
The supporters of independent MPA-elect from PK-53, Mansehra-I Sardar Zahoor are also reported to be celebrating their leader’s victory by intense firing in the air.
LAWMAKERS-ELECT PLEDGE TO FULFIL PROMISES: PML-N lawmakers-elect from Mansehra district have promised they will fulfil their election promises to change the lot of the local residents through mega development projects.
“We will ensure start of work on Hassanabdal-Mansehra Expressway within 90 days of taking oath. It will not only address traffic issue on this portion of Karakoram Highway but will also bring economic revolution in Hazara division,” Sardar Mohammad Yousaf said at a public meeting in Battal on Tuesday.
Mr Yousaf, who is PML-N MNA-elect from NA-20, Mansehra-1, said whatever announcements PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had made during his address to a public meeting in Mansehra last month, would be fulfilled.
“We will deliver on whatever our leader had announced in Mansehra. The people will feel a real change in their lives soon,” he said.
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Mohammad Safdar, who elected MNA from NA-21 Mansehra 2, also spoke to a public meeting.
He said backwardness and deprivations of the people of Torghar would be addressed as early as possible.
“We are not in politics for minting money, so we are here to serve the people and address their core issues and the time is not far-off when core issues of the people of Mansehra and Hazara will be addressed,” he said.
Mr Safdar said the country was facing difficult times and the PML-N chief would retrieve it out of the crisis and put it on the way to prosperity.
He said PML-N would restore the lost glory of Pakistan in the eyes of the international community and core issues would be addressed to steer the country out of the economic mess.
