SUKKUR, May 8: The salaries of sanitary workers of the Sukkur Taluka Municipal Council, amounting to Rs200,000, was looted by armed robbers in the office of the sanitary inspector here on Wednesday.
The sanitary inspector, Riaz Bhutto, was distributing salaries among the sanitary staff when the robbers raided the office, located at Ghaznavi Park, Miani Road, on gunpoint looted the entire amount and fled.
ROBBERY: Armed robbers raided a shop in Grain Market, Kandhkot, and looted it on Wednesday.
The robbers overpowered the employees and proprietor of the shop and looted cash worth Rs50,000.
The market traders demanded of the police to set up a police check post in the market and intensify police patrolling.
TEACHERS’ DEMO: Teachers of different schools and colleges held a demonstration in Thul for third consecutive day on Wednesday to protest against treasury officers of Jacobabad.
They demanded that the Sindh government should suspend Shabbir Ahmed Samoo, accounts officer of the treasury department, and another employee, Ghulam Hussain Wagan.
They said that the treasury department employees were harassing high school teachers and primary schools teachers and not clearing their bills.
Those who gave speeches on the occasion were the leaders of the Government Secondary School Teachers Association, Primary School Teachers Association and Masjid School Teachers Association.
The Government Secondary Teachers Association also held a demonstration in front of the Jacobabad Press Club against the treasury department staff for not clearing their bills.
On the appeal of various teachers organizations, the teachers also boycotted their classes in Jacobabad, Thul and other towns of Jacobabad district.
ACCIDENT: One person, Asghar Ali, was killed and eight others were injured, including five women, when a wagon overturned on the National Highway, near Ghotki bypass, on Thursday.
