HYDERABAD, May 8: The Taluka City Council, Hyderabad, on Wednesday condemned the unnecessary demands being made by the National Database Registration Authority for issuing national identity cards.

A resolution regarding it was tabled by Mohammad Yaqoob, which was unanimously adopted.

He pointed out that the NADRA was asking the people to bring endorsement letters from district police officer and taluka police officer concerned notwithstanding the fact that the union councils had issued residential and character certificates to residents living in their areas for the purpose of securing NICs.

He said that the demand was simply uncalled for and was only meant for harassing the people.

The session also condemned the attitude of the assistant district education officer for not reinstating 66 women teachers despite their reinstatement in service under the directives of the Sindh government.

The members supported a resolution in this regard which was tabled by Iqbal Qaimkhani.

Abdul Waheed Ajmeri drew the attention of the session towards the shifting of the Building Control department to the Civic Centre from its present location in Al-Waheed Square. He said that the order should be withdrawn immediately.

The convener, Abdul Qadeer Naghar, said possible measures will be taken to observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi in a befitting manner.

He directed the sanitation department to make sure that roads were clean and the electricity department to ensure that lights worked properly on Eid Milad-un-Nabi Day, especially on those routes on which processions were taken out.

The session also adopted a resolution for naming Market Chowk after the late Major Syed Nadeem Ali, the co-pilot who died in a helicopter crash in the northern areas last month. The resolution calling for holding a Mohsin-i-Insaniyat conference, was also adopted.
