KARACHI, Dec 10: Accommodation is still available in various trains for passengers intending to travel to upcountry destinations to celebrate Eid with their families.

The Divisional Commercial Officer, Maqsood-un-Nabi, told APP that except for Tezgam and Allama Iqbal Express, which have been fully booked by now, seats and berths are available in other trains.

He said about 1,000 seats and berths were available in Lahore Express, Tezrao, Khyber Mail, Chenab Express, Shalimar Express, Awam Express and other trains of the main line.

He said Eid rush had almost been over but whatever rush was now being witnessed was of those families who wanted to go to upcountry with their children to spend winter holidays.

The DCO said the first Eid Special would leave Karachi City Station for Rawalpindi at 1400 hours and the second Eid special for Peshawar would leave the same day from Cantonment Station at 2000 hours.

The third Eid special will leave for Lahore from City Station on Dec 14 at 1100 hours.

He said that aside from these special trains, extra coaches would be attached with various trains. He said these measures had greatly helped in overcoming the unprecedented rush of passengers for upcountry destinations.

The DCO said that a campaign had been launched to check ticketless travelling which grew on such occasions.

He said various ticket checking squads had been formed to catch the people travelling without ticket. These teams would carry out surprise raids on various trains and at various stations.—APP
