HYDERABAD, May 4: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has urged the students to work hard to achieve the goals of their life in their own interest and for serving the cause of the nation and the country.

He was speaking on Friday on the occasion of distributing prizes among meritorious students who secured the first five positions in the pre-entry test for admissions to various bachelor degree programmes.

The vice chancellor said it was a great achievement that in the public sector universities only the Sindh University is conducting pre-entry tests, and added that for maintaining the transparency of the test the result is announced on a website on the same day.

The first prize of Rs10,000 was awarded to Danish Saif Talpur who secured 321 marks out of 400 and was selected for admission in BS Computer Science (part I), the second prize of Rs7,000 was awarded to Ghulam Hussain Solangi who secured 304 marks and was selected for admission in BA (Honours) English, the third prize of Rs5,000 was awarded to Hera Afzal who secured 302 marks and was selected for admission in BA (Honours) English (part-I), the fourth prize of Rs3,000 was awarded to Majid Nooruddin who secured 297 marks and was selected for admission in BS IT (part-I), and the fifth prize of Rs2,000 was awarded to Fatima Nisar Soomro who secured 296 marks and was selected for admission in BS Physics (part-I).

A total number of 4,446 candidates had appeared in the test.

Prof Asif Ali Qazi, Coordinator of the Sindh University Testing Centre for Admissions and Employment, Dr Saeed Ahmed Soomro, Registrar, and Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Director, Admissions, also expressed their views.
