UNITED NATIONS, May 2: The United Nations Security Council will not discuss the Kashmir issue this month, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations Munir Akram said after chairing his first session as the council’s president on Friday.
Mr Akram did not give any reason as to why the issue was not on the council's agenda.
Earlier, on Friday, India had offered to "restore diplomatic relations and air links with Pakistan" that were cut almost 18 months ago, while Islamabad had welcomed the move saying it would "facilitate the process of dialogue between the two countries."
Meanwhile, Mr Akram said he had scheduled a public meeting on March 13 on the role of the Council in the peaceful settlement of disputes, but said it was not specifically about the conflict over Kashmir.
"The meeting will cover the existing disputes and the future disputes," he said.—AFP
