Ali Azlan helps HBL crush Punjab 8-0

LAHORE, July 24 Four goals by Ali Azlan (25th, 29th, 34th, 57th minutes) and two by Zubair Ahmad (7th, 52nd) inspired Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to beat Punjab 8-0 on the second day of the NBP Gold Cup hockey tournament here on Friday.

The other goals were scored by Nasir Shahzad and Shahbaz Ali.

Two goals each by Khalil Ahmad (12th, 20th) and Mohammad Ramzan (15th, 68th) enabled Army to crush Sindh 7-1.

Mohammad Afzal (13th), Rizwan Junior (49th) and Waqas Junior (55th) were the other scorers for the winners.

Zahid Ali scored the lone goal for the losers.

A hat-trick by Inayatullah saved the blushes of defending champions PIA as they managed to play a 4-4 draw against Pakistan Steel Mills.

PIA, which made a bad start, losing the opener to Port Qasim Authority, won when Inayatullah banged home in 6th, 37th and 62nd minutes while Mukhtar Ahmad (58th minute) also scored a goal.

For Steel Mills, Fayyaz Ahmad (34th), Yasir Anwar (40th, 47th) and Mohammad Irfan (48th minute) struck goals.

Two-goal Mohammad Asif Junior and Zeeshan Ali guided Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to a 6-2 triumph over Police.

Port Qasim beat Navy 5-1. For the winning side, Mohammad Atif (15th), Rashid (25th), Javed Mazhar (54th), Imran (61st), Shahzad Hanif (68th) were the scorers.
