For a while now, political observers have said that Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan’s ‘tsunami’ has lost steam.

After its dramatic entry on the political stage in a highly succesful October 2011 rally in Lahore, Imran’s stunned opponents were left reeling – as the months went by and general elections drew closer, however, the PTI’s intra-party polls left the party looking inwards, with little time to worry about public campaigning.

Now, with general elections just a few weeks away, the PTI tried to make a comeback in Lahore: on 23rd March, Pakistan Day. The hype surrounding the event was tremendous, and the publicity, stellar. Imran’s jalsa took place on a holiday when people’s patriotism was already pumped up, and that too at the Minar-e-Pakistan itself.

The buzz surrounding the gathering was that it was a ‘make or break’ situation for the PTI.

Was the rally as monumental as it presented itself to be pre-event?

Do you think the late start as well as the sudden weather change in Lahore affected the outcome of the rally?

I am not a member of any party in Pakistan. BB, NS and Zardari had their chances. We all have witnessed how they turned this country into a mess. I will not vote for them anymore. They are already tested and tried. I want some positive change in this country and for that I will vote for IK. The other reasons to vote for him are: He has proven himself to be the man of his words. He is not corrupt. I honestly believe that he is sincere with his country and he has big plans for us. Above all, I trust him.

I have no doubt that that people will be there in record numbers. PTI elected 80,000 office bearers. If each one brings 6 people, then we are looking at more than 5 lakh people. But that is it. Not sure why media is making so much out of a big gathering. It is more of a propoganda war? In the past many people have big Jalsas, but disappointed performance in elections. I do not take it a any indication what so ever.

Honestly and frankly speaking, it would be a very ignorant and/or oppressed voter who will vote for ANY of the six parties who were in power (although some were in power and opposition at the same time) during last five years. They introduced a new principle in politics that there should be no principles, no morals, and no conscience in politics, and that, to hell with the people, do whatever you can to stay afloat and make money. Honestly, look at newspapers of last five years and you will not see an iota of responsibility and sincerity in the government, just blatant lies, pompous false claims and utter disregard for the people's welfare and country's security.

Instead its much better to spend time with family and friends. I have no doubt that Imran is sincere we should give him a chance.

I think PTI would be able to pull up a large crowd because of two reasons: PTI has gone through a lot of clean up because of internal party elections (just today 3 electables left PTI for PMLN) and is winning back its ideological passionate supporters. Secondly, earlier it was just word of mouth of supporters, this time around, there are 80,000 PTI officers at the grass roots level who are all going to use their clout to bring in as many people as possible.

Imran has been in Pakistan Politics for many years now, what FORM or substance this man has shown so far? Only few successful rallies over a decade are not what one could say performance! These rallies were successful due to people anger and disapproval of ruling politicians by shouting for change out in search for hope. Substance, again over decades, we have not seen consistency in what Imran does, he was sitting with Mr. Nawaz Sharif at some point - now against him, went to UK to engineer deportation of Altaf Hussain – unsuccessful. Has Imran shown any maturity, consistency, skills to negotiate etc.. – an emotional man with headline politics without substance. Pakistan has some very serious issues such as terrorism, religious and ethnic divisions, poor economy, no security, unemployment and corruption etc.. – no show biz or cricket team management please! Pakistan need a leader with strong character, managing skills, charisma and above all HONESTY! Perhaps only Mr. Pervez Musharraf (may not be perfect), with experience of managing the best army in the world and managing though most difficult times in history of Pakistan - regional/international impacts of 9/11, no charges of corruption against him seems to be the best person to deal with issues Pakistan is facing today.

If people voted again for the CORRUPT ONES then they will get what they voted for which will mean now be ready for even the worse. But if they have any sense they should vote for the HONEST ONES if they can find any. Repeating the same mistake every time will not produce any different results as already experienced by the poor people of Pakistan. Only a fool keeps on repeating the same mistake. If Pakistani's lost this opportunity to select the BEST ONES keeping the national interests on the top and putting their regional affiliations, prejudices and differences on the side only then they can emerge as a successful nation. Otherwise, AS YOU SOW SO SHALL YOU REAP. has already lost its most valuable and irreversible 60 years which is evident by comparing its progress with other nations who got independence at almost the same time period. This is the time for the nation to WAKE UP NOW and act sensibly.

"Simple question for all of you will help you decide your vote. Who has served Pakistan well even without being in government?" PMLs and PPP do not have the slightest idea about the feeling of common people towards them. My dad is retired army officer and he has not voted in his life but for these elections he has registered himself as well as all the members of our family and ordered us to vote for only PTI. I will not just vote for Imran Khan, after casting my vote i will go to all my friends and pursue them to vote for PTI, after finishing this job i will bring people to voting station who do not have transport. That is my whole family and all friends are planning to spend 11 May, 2013 One last thing, this has nothing to do with chances of PTI being the winners, even if i know PTI is losing, i will vote for PTI because it is better to be on losing but right side, rather than winning but on wrong side. My emotions ask me to write and write about why i am PTI voter but i also care about readers. :P Stay Happy :)

My prediction is the Army will not support any leader who is reluctant to crush and wipe out militants, terrorists and enemies of humanity from every city, every town, every village, every tribe and every cave of Pakistan. The only alternative to save Pakistan is a military rule which no one will like but it will be the last resort to save Pakistan. Imran Khan must tell Pakistanis before election how he will wipe out all militants and terrorists groups from Pakistan, not in 5 years, not in 3 years, not in one year but declare war on militants and terrorists immediately after taking office, suspend constitution, enforce Marshal Law until last militant and terrorist is killed or captured.................Insha Allah

Based on the responses to this Blog, a conclusion one can draw is that a vast majority of educated Pakistanis (given that they can write articulately in English) support IK, and that they are confident that IK will come to power. However, the educated Pakistanis with capability to articulately in English make up only a tiny minority of Pakistanis. The math simply does not work for IK.

We, as Pakistani, know very well what we have been through and what is at stake; where we stand right now and what we want to do??? Surely and certainly, we don't want any of this what we face but we want a change and not only a change of leader or party but we want a sincere, truthful to the country, nation and it's basic idiology, the idiology of our Quid-e-Azam, nation's father, an ambisious leader, who is educated and can lead the nation to make progress, gain prosperity and live a dignified life, at home and/or abroad, keeping the nation's flag high irrespective of any thing, whatsoever, nothing beyond and above our beloved country's (PAKISTAN) interest. Inview of the above, my choice is PTI - Mr Imran Khan! Allah the Almight bless him with his blessings to be able to maintian not only what he claims but much much more ... whatever it take to do for the betterment of the people of Pakistina and Pakistant in the first most place!.

I was a big admirer of Imran khan at the beginning but when imran khan started to take the old politicians from the old political parties of Pakistan , i lost my support for him . If Imran khan did one thing that he dont let them enter into the party rather than bring total new faces with educated criteria and ask people to vote them bcz they are educated and honest then people will vote him but voting qureshi , hashmi , tarin is like voting ppp and pml,s . so what is the big change? may i know , Guys we have prime minister system of govt not presidential system , So he need the team of around 1000 people to run the govt . So hopes are less and also the way intra party election took place an the result , it really shut my mouth offf. And its again , OLD WINE IN A NEW BOTTLE. Thanks buddies for long reading khizar
