For a while now, political observers have said that Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan’s ‘tsunami’ has lost steam.

After its dramatic entry on the political stage in a highly succesful October 2011 rally in Lahore, Imran’s stunned opponents were left reeling – as the months went by and general elections drew closer, however, the PTI’s intra-party polls left the party looking inwards, with little time to worry about public campaigning.

Now, with general elections just a few weeks away, the PTI tried to make a comeback in Lahore: on 23rd March, Pakistan Day. The hype surrounding the event was tremendous, and the publicity, stellar. Imran’s jalsa took place on a holiday when people’s patriotism was already pumped up, and that too at the Minar-e-Pakistan itself.

The buzz surrounding the gathering was that it was a ‘make or break’ situation for the PTI.

Was the rally as monumental as it presented itself to be pre-event?

Do you think the late start as well as the sudden weather change in Lahore affected the outcome of the rally?

My friends, family and I will all vote for PTI...
March 22, 2013 10:58 am
I am not a member of any party in Pakistan. BB, NS and Zardari had their chances. We all have witnessed how they turned this country into a mess. I will not vote for them anymore. They are already tested and tried. I want some positive change in this country and for that I will vote for IK. The other reasons to vote for him are: He has proven himself to be the man of his words. He is not corrupt. I honestly believe that he is sincere with his country and he has big plans for us. Above all, I trust him.
March 22, 2013 11:24 am
Dear all. please do not vote for those who are already been tested corrupt leaders of PMLN AND PPP. So its time for change , and we do not have any other option than imran khan.God bless our country. Regards, AA

The people of Pakistan are mostly impressed by the FORM rather than by SUBSTANCE. Imran Khan seems to have both! The size of the meeting will decide the FORM he has, and his speech would give them the substance. I hope so.

I hope and pray that People of Pakistan vote for Imran khan and support his policies. I don't think there is any politician better than Imran khan in the country at this time. He is sincere about Pakistan. May Allah give him success and allow Pakistan to get rid of hereditary politics and corrupt politicians. Ameen.
March 22, 2013 3:43 pm
I have no doubt that that people will be there in record numbers. PTI elected 80,000 office bearers. If each one brings 6 people, then we are looking at more than 5 lakh people. But that is it. Not sure why media is making so much out of a big gathering. It is more of a propoganda war? In the past many people have big Jalsas, but disappointed performance in elections. I do not take it a any indication what so ever.
March 22, 2013 3:44 pm
Have we seen any corruption from PMLn?
March 22, 2013 3:57 pm
In my view it seems mostly FORM little SUBSTANCE. So who knows he may win!

PTI has no sitting MNA at the moment still it is in news or in national agenda... WHY? Because it has popular public support. If there would have been presidential election IMRAN KHAN would have easily won. By the way it is also out of fashion to vote for Ancient parties PMLn n PPP

Honestly and frankly speaking, it would be a very ignorant and/or oppressed voter who will vote for ANY of the six parties who were in power (although some were in power and opposition at the same time) during last five years. They introduced a new principle in politics that there should be no principles, no morals, and no conscience in politics, and that, to hell with the people, do whatever you can to stay afloat and make money. Honestly, look at newspapers of last five years and you will not see an iota of responsibility and sincerity in the government, just blatant lies, pompous false claims and utter disregard for the people's welfare and country's security.
March 22, 2013 7:02 pm
This is the country where media is corrupt from head to toe, every single anchor is corrupt. I would advice to my country fellow to avoid wasting time listening to those useless talk shows. Instead its much better to spend time with family and friends. I have no doubt that Imran is sincere we should give him a chance.
March 22, 2013 7:07 pm
I think PTI would be able to pull up a large crowd because of two reasons: PTI has gone through a lot of clean up because of internal party elections (just today 3 electables left PTI for PMLN) and is winning back its ideological passionate supporters. Secondly, earlier it was just word of mouth of supporters, this time around, there are 80,000 PTI officers at the grass roots level who are all going to use their clout to bring in as many people as possible.

Dear Pakistanis I'm living in USA for many years, always wanted to come back and settle down back in the country of my birth and where my ancestors are buried, but failed in my many sincere attempts due to always worsening situation in Pakistan. Believe me, I have put my last hope on Imran Khan, for the good reasons. God have given you a golden chance to put our nation and beloved country back on right track under Imran Khan. Please think not only for yourself but also about your children, make every effort to make Imran Khan successful. I'm dreaming a progress and much peacful Pakistan under Imran khan before I die. God bless you all.

March 22, 2013 8:30 pm
I agree with everyone here....this is a time for change! why do our people fall for the same old corrupt leaders again and again! Please wake up and give this man a chance. He is a man with values and principles who is devoted to this country and who I believe can steer this country in the right direction. Praying for him all the way!
March 22, 2013 9:21 pm
I will describe him a good person but he is rigid as well as arrogant. He should talk for everyone, he has no solution for karchities , he never address Karachi problem. Karachi is a deprive city, Police of Karachi does not belong to local .He is honest but not intelligent. He is a good administrator but not a good politician.
March 22, 2013 11:12 pm
Best of luck IK and best of luck my motherland. May tomorrow bring the dawn we have been waiting for since the creation of our land. My people, help IK realize the dream we all have. If not IK/PTI then who else? Go my people, join IK tomorrow and make history. And be with him until you truly make him our leader. Its what you deserve, its what Pakistan deserves. Pakistan Zindabad!!!!
March 22, 2013 11:49 pm
"God forbid" and "InshaAllah"??? That's an oxymoron!
March 22, 2013 11:51 pm
Imran has been in Pakistan Politics for many years now, what FORM or substance this man has shown so far? Only few successful rallies over a decade are not what one could say performance! These rallies were successful due to people anger and disapproval of ruling politicians by shouting for change out in search for hope. Substance, again over decades, we have not seen consistency in what Imran does, he was sitting with Mr. Nawaz Sharif at some point - now against him, went to UK to engineer deportation of Altaf Hussain – unsuccessful. Has Imran shown any maturity, consistency, skills to negotiate etc.. – an emotional man with headline politics without substance. Pakistan has some very serious issues such as terrorism, religious and ethnic divisions, poor economy, no security, unemployment and corruption etc.. – no show biz or cricket team management please! Pakistan need a leader with strong character, managing skills, charisma and above all HONESTY! Perhaps only Mr. Pervez Musharraf (may not be perfect), with experience of managing the best army in the world and managing though most difficult times in history of Pakistan - regional/international impacts of 9/11, no charges of corruption against him seems to be the best person to deal with issues Pakistan is facing today.
March 23, 2013 1:30 am
Vote to PTI means NO to corruption. PTI Zindabad.
March 23, 2013 2:05 am
Today is 23rd March .Outside I hear 21 gun sulate and insude I have no power supply to watch on TV.That;s what we get after 66 years. Please, please,I beg you all to discard all corrupt tried politicians and give a chace to PTI.It's the only hope for hope to save Pakistan.Choice is yours.
March 23, 2013 3:02 am
"He is not corrupt." Can you say the same about his party colleagues? Unless this will be a one man dictatorship.
March 23, 2013 3:10 am
Don't lose heart please -- even if Zardari and Sharifs return -- it will not be a total loss -- it may be another 5 years of nothingness but stable nothingness -- instead of a neophytic chaos.
March 23, 2013 4:08 am
If people voted again for the CORRUPT ONES then they will get what they voted for which will mean now be ready for even the worse. But if they have any sense they should vote for the HONEST ONES if they can find any. Repeating the same mistake every time will not produce any different results as already experienced by the poor people of Pakistan. Only a fool keeps on repeating the same mistake. If Pakistani's lost this opportunity to select the BEST ONES keeping the national interests on the top and putting their regional affiliations, prejudices and differences on the side only then they can emerge as a successful nation. Otherwise, AS YOU SOW SO SHALL YOU REAP. has already lost its most valuable and irreversible 60 years which is evident by comparing its progress with other nations who got independence at almost the same time period. This is the time for the nation to WAKE UP NOW and act sensibly.
March 23, 2013 4:23 am
this time the opportunity must be given pti then...........
March 23, 2013 5:36 am
soon you will see that it is the party of pakistani people.
March 23, 2013 5:39 am
Imran's victory will be the last day of US interference in Pakistani internal affairs. His victory will free us all from the slavery of the west and the feudal lords of old Pakistan.

For God's sake, don't ruin the future of your children. Please vote for PTI in the upcoming elections.
March 23, 2013 5:58 am
"Simple question for all of you will help you decide your vote. Who has served Pakistan well even without being in government?" PMLs and PPP do not have the slightest idea about the feeling of common people towards them. My dad is retired army officer and he has not voted in his life but for these elections he has registered himself as well as all the members of our family and ordered us to vote for only PTI. I will not just vote for Imran Khan, after casting my vote i will go to all my friends and pursue them to vote for PTI, after finishing this job i will bring people to voting station who do not have transport. That is my whole family and all friends are planning to spend 11 May, 2013 One last thing, this has nothing to do with chances of PTI being the winners, even if i know PTI is losing, i will vote for PTI because it is better to be on losing but right side, rather than winning but on wrong side. My emotions ask me to write and write about why i am PTI voter but i also care about readers. :P Stay Happy :)
March 23, 2013 6:46 am
Whether the gathering is a success or not matters little. By holing genuine intranet party elections PTI has raised the bar in Pakistani politics. This in itself is a huge contribution. Inshallah the reward of this exemplary initiative will be achieved by a vote of confidence at the forthcoming general elections
March 23, 2013 7:00 am
Imran Khan must be a given a chance to lead this country. He is an able, selfless and honest leader who has been been educated at one of the worlds leading universities. We should not vote for the tried and tested politicians of the PML and PPP but instead vote for change. vote for PTI. Inshallah PTI will be victorious in the upcoming polls.
March 23, 2013 7:01 am
I strongle feel that someone whose blind, deaf and dumb will also turn up to vote for PTI Imran Khan this time (InshAllah) because even they can sense that Imran and PTI are the only hope for a better Pakistan......
March 23, 2013 7:07 am
My prediction is the Army will not support any leader who is reluctant to crush and wipe out militants, terrorists and enemies of humanity from every city, every town, every village, every tribe and every cave of Pakistan. The only alternative to save Pakistan is a military rule which no one will like but it will be the last resort to save Pakistan. Imran Khan must tell Pakistanis before election how he will wipe out all militants and terrorists groups from Pakistan, not in 5 years, not in 3 years, not in one year but declare war on militants and terrorists immediately after taking office, suspend constitution, enforce Marshal Law until last militant and terrorist is killed or captured.................Insha Allah

PML-N will win this election. they have delivered in Punjab and will deliver in Pakistan
March 23, 2013 8:48 am
No matter what, me and my family will vote for PTI. Even if IK comes in the opposition,he will give such a hard time to the govt. I hope he wins. Allah be with him!
March 23, 2013 9:55 am
the critical factor is not PTI, its change. do you want change or more of the same? the 2 established parties PML-N and PPP represent more of the same. PTI represents change. The average public needs to be asked what they want? more of the same or change. Its that simple.
March 23, 2013 10:10 am
Solution for Karachites is to vote MQM out and vote PTI in, then see what changes he will bring.
March 23, 2013 10:32 am
Inshallah, Imran Khan will be our next leader. He has done great things for our country already, and Inshallah alot more to come once he is elected. He makes me proud to be Pakistani
March 23, 2013 10:52 am
Its time for change and time for new Pakistan to emerge. This is your only opportunity to free yourselves from the Shariff's and Zardari's. They have been tried and tested and they have no vision other than to fill their pockets. If the Pakistani nation dont vote PTI or Musharrafe then the whole country will get dragged into civil war like the one in Karachi. I also second Mustafa's comments below
March 23, 2013 11:38 am
Luckily you have wifi to post though ;)
March 23, 2013 11:45 am
Pakistanis please wake up!!!!!! vote for PTI if you want Pakistan to survive. Nawaz and Zardari are not the people, look what have PPP done to our beloved country in last five years. Even Mush was better than these clowns. Who many hospitals, schools, universities, education which is the most important for Pakistan did these clowns like PPP, PMLN or Q leaders open on their own? Nothing...just look at our president and PMs for last 5 years...They all should be hanged in public to teach a lesson. Imran is the only hope!!!!! From a Pakistani
March 23, 2013 12:26 pm
And who got us into this mess in the first place? We've had enough of military rule. Let's try to sort out things like civilized countries do.

March 23, 2013 12:28 pm
Why people of Pakistan are voting for those who do not 1) teach their children with our children 2) who do not go for treatment in public sector hospitals where we go for and 3) who do not travel (even once ) in public transport. If people still vote for them, go to hell
March 23, 2013 12:29 pm
If things are not going well for Karachi then it is about time to try something new. People should hold those accountable who been representing them for decades now.
March 23, 2013 1:15 pm
Based on the responses to this Blog, a conclusion one can draw is that a vast majority of educated Pakistanis (given that they can write articulately in English) support IK, and that they are confident that IK will come to power. However, the educated Pakistanis with capability to articulately in English make up only a tiny minority of Pakistanis. The math simply does not work for IK.
Israr Khan IsmailZai.
March 23, 2013 4:29 pm
Yeah sure, they way he dealt with "Lal Masjid", or handing over Dr. Aafia? or killing his own people for americans? etc.
March 23, 2013 7:34 pm
Masha-Allah may Allah bless Pakistan with more people like you dear sister. Even if PTI doesn't form the government at least they will be a strong party of the people. I pray that they do win. Only IK can save this country. If everyone does what you intend to do than thousanads can motivate hundreds of thousands In-Sha-Allah.
March 23, 2013 9:18 pm
PTI is becoming a mature political party day by day ..time has to come when it will get desired results in the polls nearby .At this point of time, PTI is playing in a disiplinary manner inside the party as well as in public .Imran Khan is also supported by oversease Pakistanis to back the party unconditionally .We should also vote PTI the end individual level effort is required to bring a huge change in favour or PTI .chances for PTI to set a mark in polls seems
March 24, 2013 3:35 am
Please vote for change!!!!!
March 24, 2013 6:06 am
whether PTI wins or loose, i will vote only for Imran, i will never vote for other corrupt parties in any election.
March 24, 2013 6:07 am
My family Vote PPP for MPA seat and PML-N for MNA seat. Considering the poor performance of Punjab and Federal Government, We decided to Vote PTI either they win or lost. My family suffered for following poor performance of Federal & Provincial Governments being lived in a village near Mian Channu. 1- Federal Government. 1.1-Electricity Load Shedding 1.2-Price hike 1.3-CNG Load Shedding 1.4-Petrol & Diesel Prices 2- Provincial Government 2.1 Poor performance of Schools (The School in which we read and able to reach Medical and Engineering Universties are touching to 0 level of quality education) 2.1 Poor performance of Health Sector ( 5~10 years back Nishter Hostpital have high standards, but during last five years performance is touching to ground level) 2.3 Poor performance of Law and Order 2.4-Esential bribe to Pitwar Sector 2.5 Essential bribe to Thana Culture.
March 24, 2013 6:08 am
We, as Pakistani, know very well what we have been through and what is at stake; where we stand right now and what we want to do??? Surely and certainly, we don't want any of this what we face but we want a change and not only a change of leader or party but we want a sincere, truthful to the country, nation and it's basic idiology, the idiology of our Quid-e-Azam, nation's father, an ambisious leader, who is educated and can lead the nation to make progress, gain prosperity and live a dignified life, at home and/or abroad, keeping the nation's flag high irrespective of any thing, whatsoever, nothing beyond and above our beloved country's (PAKISTAN) interest. Inview of the above, my choice is PTI - Mr Imran Khan! Allah the Almight bless him with his blessings to be able to maintian not only what he claims but much much more ... whatever it take to do for the betterment of the people of Pakistina and Pakistant in the first most place!.

I was a big admirer of Imran khan at the beginning but when imran khan started to take the old politicians from the old political parties of Pakistan , i lost my support for him . If Imran khan did one thing that he dont let them enter into the party rather than bring total new faces with educated criteria and ask people to vote them bcz they are educated and honest then people will vote him but voting qureshi , hashmi , tarin is like voting ppp and pml,s . so what is the big change? may i know , Guys we have prime minister system of govt not presidential system , So he need the team of around 1000 people to run the govt . So hopes are less and also the way intra party election took place an the result , it really shut my mouth offf. And its again , OLD WINE IN A NEW BOTTLE. Thanks buddies for long reading khizar

Great description of your feelings. Good luck on May 11.
March 24, 2013 7:04 am
You live in past . Your song has no rhythm.
March 24, 2013 7:08 am
You are biased. Forget about race and think of whole nation. Imran is the only person who has no bias against any part of Pakistan. At least give him a chance, Please.
March 24, 2013 8:01 am
It would be a great blunder on our part as a nation if we do not unite under Imran Khan against the deep rooted corrupt system that has left us at the door steps of hell. We should all think above our noses to realize that this is our last chance. I beseech all my fellow countrymen to unite under Imran Khan to defeat the forces of Statuesque. May Allah SWA grant victory to the righteous.
