A LOT is being said by the Election Commission of Pakistan about verification of the voters’ list before the general elections. I live in Karachi. Recently, three people who claimed themselves to be representatives of the Election Commission came to my house for the purpose of voters’ list verification. I was at work. My wife and 20-year-old son attended them. They asked my wife about the head of the family’s name, total number of family members, and their ages.

None of the EC representatives demanded our CNICs nor did they ask for our CNIC numbers.

I would like to ask the Chief Election Commissioner whether the way the verification of voters’ list was being carried out is right. Will I be able to cast my vote in the next general elections (if held) with such weak verification by the Election Commission?
