BEIJING, Jan 7: China on Monday advised both India and Pakistan to keep calm along the Line of Control and stressed that ensuring peace in South Asia was important.

In reply to a question about the killing of a Pakistani solder by India forces after crossing the LoC on Sunday, foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China had noticed the relevant press reports on the incident.

As a neighbour and friend of both India and Pakistan, China hoped the two countries could properly and calmly resolve their disputes through dialogue and negotiation so as to jointly uphold peace and stability in South Asia, the spokesman said.—APP
