The military finance department of the Ministry of Defence has objected to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB)’s plan to shift its landfill site out of the cantonment areas. As a result, further work on the plan is stalled.

A senior official of the RCB told Dawn that they had planned to procure 180 kanals at Chakri Road for the new landfill site and sent the details to the ministry for approval of the project.

The ministry forwarded the details to the military finance department which raised the objections. It asked RCB to get a non-objection certificate (NOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) before procuring the land because the area was located near the New Benazir Bhutto International Airport at Fatehjang.
