Remembering Razia Butt

Published December 22, 2012

WRITER Razia Butt died in Lahore on Nov 21 at the age of 88. She was born in 1924 in Rawalpindi, married in 1946 and wrote her first short story ‘Naila’.

Later, she changed the same short story into a novel and became a novelist as well.

She was not only an amazing humorist, but also a stunning novelist with a flair for writing and a way with words.

She wrote simple plots and kept nail-biting suspense sustained in her novels and short stories until they reached an unexpected ending.

Her two novels – ‘Naila’ and ‘Saiqa’ — were televised.

She wrote 50 novels, along with 350 short stories. She will be remembered for her contribution to literature.
