ISLAMABAD: US Senior Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan David Pearce held meetings in Islamabad today with Pakistani officials to continue discussions regarding how the United States and Pakistan can work together to identify their shared interests and act on them jointly.

Ambassador Pearce’s visit builds on the many recent US-Pakistan bilateral engagements, such as the recent meetings between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Washington and Brussels, the Economics and Finance Working Group, the Defence Consultative Group and the Energy Working Group.

“I am delighted to be in Pakistan,” said Pearce.

“Over the last few months there have been a number of significant high-level US -Pakistan bilateral engagements. We have made real progress on issues critical to the interests of both of our nations,” he said.

“I am meeting with officials in Islamabad today to continue this process. I expect the United States and Pakistan will continue these engagements in the weeks and months ahead," Pearce said.
