MUMBAI: Kevin Pietersen scored 186 and Monty Panesar took five wickets as England ripped through the hosts on the third day of the second Test at the Wankhede Stadium.

Pietersen, along with Alastair Cook (122) piled on the runs, giving the tourists a lead of 86 in reply to India's first innings total of 327.

Panesar, who took his haul to ten wickets in this match, took five wickets and Graeme Swann took two as India reached 117 for seven at stumps, with a lead of just 31 runs.

Virender Sehwag (9, Sachin Tendulkar (8), Yuvraj Singh (8), MS Dhoni (6) and Ravichandran Ashwin (11) were dismissed by Sehwag while Swann sent Virat Kohli and Cheseshwar Pujara back to the pavilion.

Gautam Gambhir, unbeaten at 53, was the only batsman who put up a solid score for India.

Earlier, Cook had anchored England’s innings with Pietersen’s support and the two scored a record partnership of 206 runs. However, after Cook’s dismissal, England fell apart as Ojha took five.
