KARACHI: Pakistan Army won the last match before the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) takes a break for Eid-ul-Azha when they overwhelmed Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 4-1 on Wednesday.

The victory propelled Army to second spot in the league table with 34 points from 17 games, three behind leaders and defending champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL).

Mohammad Jameel’s 14th minute strike at the Army Stadium in Rawalpindi was followed by two goals in the space of six minutes early in the second-half by Mohammad Ikram (54th) and Ansar Abbas (60th) as Army took total control of the tie.

Mohammad Bin Younus got KPT back in the game when he struck in the 79th but Rehman Ali scored two minutes from time to seal a fantastic win for his side.

The PPFL will resume after a week-long gap on Nov 1 when Pakistan Air Force clash with Wapda while PIA host Navy.
