HYDERABAD, Oct 7: Vice-Chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) Prof Syed Mashoor Alam Shah has said that needs for seats in the university are increasing with the increase in population.

But he also expressed the hope that with the establishment of a medical college in Khairpur, the burden on LUMHS would lessen to some extent. He was talking to a group of journalists in LUMHS after visiting the venue of pre-entry test held on Sunday for 350 seats of MBBS and 101 of BDS.

Total 4,491 students belonging to 12 districts of Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Matiari, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Thatta, Badin and Jamshoro appeared in the test.

The National Testing Service (NTS) conducted the test which started at 10am and ended at 12 noon. LUMHS facilitated strict vigilance and security for the exam. The VC monitored arrangements. Parents waited outside and far away from the venue.

The NTS has announced to display answer key of question paper tonight on the website of LUMHS www.lumhs.edu.pk. Provisional results would be announced within 72 hours.

DADU: According to PRO of LUMHS Allah Dino Mallah, seats of MBBS and BDS have been divided district wise. Total 802 female and 178 male candidates appeared in the test from Hyderabad against total 47 seats allocated for the district; 222 female and 133 male candidates from Nawabshah against 35 seats; 136 female and 85 male candidates from Matyari against 16 seats; 94 females and 58 males from Tando Mohammad Khan against 14 seats; 160 females and 60 males from Tando Allah Yar district against 15 seats and 353 female and 200 male candidates appeared from Sanghar district against the 42 allocated seats.

From Mirpurkhas district, 295 female and 123 male candidates appeared in the test against 31 seats; from Umerkot district, 151 female and 182 male candidates for 21; from Tharparker district, 129 females and 176 males for 29 seats; from Thatta district, 178 female and 142 male candidates for 35 seats; from Badin district, 28 females and 148 males for 35 seats and 185 females and 83 males appeared in the test from Jamshoro district against 18 seats.

During the visit, the VC said candidates willing to get admission to the People’s University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women of Shaheed Benazirabad also appeared in this centre for test this year.

NAWABSHAH: As many as 214 female candidates appeared in the pre-entry test for 130 seats of MBBS in Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women here on Sunday.

An official of the university informed that a total 407 forms had been received. Forms of 16 candidates were rejected. Total 214 candidates appeared in the test while 177 remained absent in the test conducted by the National Testing Service.

LARKANA: The big ground of Police Training Centre in Larkana was converted into an examination hall here on Sunday where 2,824 students took examination for the admission in the first year MBBS in Chandka Medical College of Larkana and Bibi Assefa Dental College of Larkana. The NTS conducted the test amid tight security.

The management of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SBBMU) made extensive arrangements to provide facilities to parents. The number of female candidates (1,680) was more than the male candidates (1144). The candidates were given entry into the examination hall after complete search. Circuit cameras were fitted and a control room was established to monitor the test.

Vice Chancellor of SBBMU Prof Dr Akbar Haider Soomro, Larkana Commissioner Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Chandka Medical College Principal Prof Dr Assadullah Mahar and SBBMU Registrar Dr Amanullah Jukhio supervised the test.
