QUETTA, Oct 6: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said the judiciary is determined to provide adequate, prompt and impartial relief to all persons who come before it, irrespective of their status, ethnic background, religion or gender.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee on Saturday, he urged the government to implement its recommendations and proposals as soon as possible.

The chief justice said an independent and strong system of administration of justice ensured stability, rule of law and good governance.

He said the secret of a nation’s success was in adherence to the constitution, rule of law and a system of government that ensured good governance and a strong administration. Good governance led to socio-economic development by generating business activities and investment opportunities, he added.

Expeditious and inexpensive justice for all segments of society was the main concern of the committee and efforts were being made to improve the capacity and performance of the institutions concerned, he said.

Justice Chaudhry said the case disposal rate and performance of the justice sector had improved considerably.
