LAHORE Sept 23: Police are relying on cell phone data to find a clue to the murder of a 21-year-old man who was shot and killed by an unidentified man at his workplace in Abuzar Plaza, Johar Town, on Saturday last.

Johar Town Investigation Officer Sher Muhammad Pasha told Dawn that Hasan’s family had no enmity with anyone. Once that factor is ruled out, now police are depending on cell phone data to reach the murderer.

He said the police had yet to receive postmortem examination report from the Jinnah hospital. He said the murder could be the outcome of some ‘honour’ issue since the youth had several women among his phone contacts. Quoting witnesses, Johar Town police said Hasan, of Sandah,

was present with his two colleagues at his office of an online marketing when a man came there and asked Hasan about Nazir.

When he told the stranger that he did not know Nazir, the intruder held Hasan at gunpoint and forced him to come out of the office. On his refusal, witnesses Asim and Sajawal told police, the intruder shot at Hasan twice and fled. When police arrived at the scene within minutes, Hasan was found dead.

Muhammad Umair, owner of the company, told Dawn that Hasan, who had been working in his company for the last one year, was a very nice and humble person and that he was a good worker. Faisal, Hasan’s maternal uncle, told this reporter that his nephew was the sole breadwinner of his family -- his mother and a brother.

He said Hasan had no issue with any one.

He said he suspected that the killer might want to kill some other person and his nephew became the target of ‘misunderstanding’ which was unfortunate. — Bilal Shafiq Janjua
