India's new T20 kit was unveiled on August 16 and scrapped just a few weeks later.

KARACHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly may not use the new kit for the World Twenty20 and instead use the one the team won the 2011 World Cup in.

The World T20 kit, unveiled by Nike on August 16, was criticized by some for its colours and design. However, that is not the reason it is being discarded by the board.

“We’ve decided to go with the old jersey and we have communicated this to Nike. The players won’t be wearing the new colours,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by DNAIndia.

MS Dhoni had welcomed the new design, saying that it would help the audience associate it with Twenty20 cricket.

"It's a very good start. Even when people are swapping between channels on television they see white and know that it's Test cricket," he said.

Some sections of the Indian media suggested that the decision might be because of certain superstitions on the part of BCCI president N Srinivasan.
