ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Monday directed leaders from the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to stop giving remarks and making statements against the judiciary, adding that, members of the party must respect the courts, DawnNews reported.

After his appearance in the Supreme Court today over the show-cause notice issued against him for contempt of court, the prime minister met with federal ministers and leaders from the coalition parties.

Today's hearing came under discussion during the meeting and the premier directed the federal ministers to respect the judiciary, especially during their appearances in television talk shows.

He also directed other party members to refrain from making statements against the judiciary.

"Statements and remarks that may reflect a confrontation between the government and the judiciary should not be made," the prime minister said.

The ministers and coalition leaders present during the meeting appreciated the prime minister's stance in the court.
