RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) submitted a report against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Hanif Abbasi before a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

The report stated that Abbasi has obtained illegal quota for ephedrine, adding that, a case had been registered against the MNA for his involvement in misuse of the controlled chemical.

Earlier on Monday, the ANF had registered a case against the legislator and his partner Zafar Bakhtawari, owners of Gray Pharmaceutical, for misusing 500 kilograms of ephedrine.

Also on Monday, the bench had directed Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, to cooperate with the investigation team of the ANF in connection with the ephedrine scam.

The court had warned both of them that their non-cooperation would result in the cancellation of their interim bail subsequently leading to their arrest by the ANF.

Upon assurances by counsel of Makhdoom Shahab and Musa Gilani for joining the investigation, the court extended their interim bail to Aug 6.
