MILAN: Mario Balotelli's former girlfriend, Raffaella Fico, says the Manchester City striker is set to become a father.

Fico found out she was pregnant in May, but only told Balotelli the day before Italy's 2-1 Euro 2012 semifinal victory against Germany in which the striker scored both of his team's goals.

In an interview with Chi magazine, the 24-year-old model says she called Balotelli to tell him. ‘First he was silent. Then he said you have given me the best news in the world.’

Fico and Balotelli ended their relationship at the end of April because of the footballer's alleged affairs. Fico added, ''He will be a playful father, and a sweet, affectionate and good life partner.''
