NOWSHERA, June 26: Two employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and a police constable were injured here on Tuesday when people of Nizampur attacked the local grid station during a protest against prolonged loadshedding.

The protesters, allegedly led by Aquwat Shah, Abdul Rashid and Wali Mohammad, entered the Kahe grid station and ransacked the offices. Police constable Hazrat Sher and two Pesco employees were injured when the enraged protesters pelted stones on the offices.

The Nizampur police station have registered a case against about 400 protesters and arrested Aquwat Shah, Abdul Rashid, Rizwan, Alif Gul, Abdul Hanan, Wali Mohammad and Mohammad Badan. The arrested people were presented in a court that sent them to jail on judicial remand.

The police, meanwhile, continued search for other protesters booked in the case.

Meanwhile, unidentified burglars took away cash and gold from a house in Armoured Colony here on Tuesday, police sources said.

They claimed that the burglars entered the house of a private school principal and decamped with 32 tola of gold, Rs300,000 cash, mobile phone sets and other valuables.

When contacted, the Nowshera Kalan police station, however, expressed its ignorance about such incident or any report registered in this regard. —Correspondent
