KARACHI: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik has said that an operation was not being conducted in Lyari but targeted action is being carried out against criminals in different areas of the metropolis.

He said this while talking to media representatives at the Karachi Airport here on Saturday.

The advisor said that law and order was being improved gradually due to joint efforts of police and rangers and hoped that the situation would be better in coming days.

He said that the government was utilising all possible resources to improve law and order in the economic hub of the country.

To a question, Rehman Malik said that the government had nothing to do with the Arsalan Iftikhar case, and that it was a matter between two individuals.

He said that the apex court had expressed confidence on government machinery by referring the case to the Attorney General for investigation.
