KARACHI: The Sindh government, late on Monday night, banned People’s Amn Committee through a notification under anti-terrorism act, DawnNews reported.

A notification issued by the provincial interior ministry prohibited the “committee’ for all its activities.

According to sources Police and Rangers have been instructed to seal committee’s offices and to take off their banners and posters from all over the city.

Dr Zulfikar Mirza announced to revive the Amn Committee on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference in Lyari, he challenged Interior Minister Rehman Malik to visit Lyari and ban the committee. He said the committee had voluntarily closed its offices on his instructions and “no-one can ban the Amn committee.”
