12 fighters killed in Valley

SRINAGAR, May 1: Indian forces on Wednesday claimed killing 12 Kashmiri Mujahideen. Four civilians were also killed in the held state on Wednesday and Tuesday night.

One of the civilians was killed near Bijbehara town, 40kms south of Srinagar.

Two members of the Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a shootout at Udhampur district, 65kms east of occupied Jammu, a spokesman claimed.

A police official said two Mujahideen were killed in a gunbattle in Rajouri district north of Jammu. Four members of the Lashkar-i-Taiba were killed by Indian soldiers in two gunbattles in Kupwara district, northwest of Srinagar, police claimed. They said unidentified men shot dead a civilian in the same area.

On Tuesday night police recovered the bullet-riddled bodies of two brothers who had been abducted from their village in Bravi Nullah, a police spokesman said.—Reuters
